West studied health science and has been working with Vancouver Coastal Health and Vancouver Resource Society for the past ten years. He works as a community health supporter, substance addiction worker, and nursing aide cooperating with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychiatrists to motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care. Provides input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team. West has been working at different levels of health facilities which includes UBC hospital, George Pearson Center, Richmond Hospital, intermediate and long-term care facilities, and multiple specialized living group home programs. He has seen people suffer from mental health issues, drugs addiction, congenital disorders, acute to chronic pain disorder, post-trauma disorder etc, and he decided to pursue his education in alternative medicine to use a different approach to treat clients. He graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University- Traditional Chinese Medicine-Acupuncture. Now he is focusing on patient centered care, and strives to provide the best individual treatment plan to whoes seeking better health management. He has strength in acupuncture, acupressure, flame cupping, moxibustion, tuina massage, and scraping etc. He specializes in using “huangdineizhen” and auricular acupuncture to treat various external and internal diseases such as whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome, Post-meniscus surgery, acid reflux , depression, tinnitus,Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and constipation etc. He has the passion and confidence to help you to reach an optimal goal and a better healthy future. Background: West is originally from Shanghai, China. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Shanghainese. Hobbies: reading, studying and exploring archaeology and anthropology, especially western Asia history, collecting ancient historical beads (if you have the same hobby, don’t hesitate to discuss with me!)
